A multiple case study across four cases in two insurance companies and two software firms. It examines how control modes and control styles fit together in agile teams.

Why it matters in practice

Control is a core construct of IT project management. The paper gives fine-grained insight into when control modes and styles reinforce each other and when they work against each other.
